Shalena Lindsey
Coordinator

Shalena Lindsey has been with the Association since 2009. She is the Office Coordinator, and is responsible for organizing all of TWURA’s business meetings and social functions, including the annual Retirees Mass Membership Assembly, Executive Board meetings, summer trips, and the annual Christmas party. She is also the Administrator of the TWURA’s dental, vision and hospital income plans. She is completing her Master’s degree in urban studies from the CUNY School of Labor & Urban Studies.
“I hope that our work makes it easier for our retirees to enjoy their hard-earned or needed retirement,” says Shalena.

Victoria Griss
Accountant

Victoria came to United States from the Ukraine in 1991. She brought with her an advanced degree in Accounting. She began working in the Local 100 Accounting Department in 2007 and transferred into the Retirees Association in 2014. She is passionate about the Association’s role in the retirees’ lives.
“The role of the TWURA is to protect and preserve retirees’ entitled contractual benefits and to further improve retirees’ interests. Therefore, as-long-as retirees need us, we will continue to be there for them.”

Carolyn Surian
Association Assistant

Carolyn joined the Association staff in June 2021, but she is hardly new to TWU Local 100. She first started working for TWU in the summer of 1987 when she was in college, and found a home there until 2002, when she left to raise her children. Carolyn comes from a long line of union workers of TWU officers (her grandfather is RA founder and Local 100 President Daniel Gilmartin), and, says Carolyn,
“returning to TWU as a staff member of the Retirees Association has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life.”
